How to educate staff for new energy developments? What to do not to lose on energy transformation but earn? Will electric cars allow us to reduce carbon footprint? How to plan the construction of an energy-efficient building for the investment to bring as many benefits as possible? What will be the impact of energy transformation on the life of an average energy consumer? These and many other questions were answered by speakers (experts, people involved in science, business, economy, and administration) at the 2nd Distributed Energy Congress organised in Krakow on 28–30 October 2024 by the AGH University.
The Distributed Energy Congress is a meeting of all stakeholders in the energy transition and an opportunity to speak out, share experiences, and establish valuable relationships. The three-day event encouraged informed debates and the advancement of knowledge, but also relaxed meetings and conversations. The idea behind the Congress was to create a network of contacts between agents from various circles engaged in energy transformation, thereby developing a platform for mutual agreements. Across a dozen of sessions, the technological and economic topics intertwined with social and environmental aspects. Representatives of local authorities and central institutions responsible for energy matters participated in simultaneous panels next to entrepreneurs, scientists, and young ambassadors of energy transformation.
“The model and pace of the energy transformation in Poland is undoubtedly one of the most relevant topics in the public debate. I am all the more pleased that the AGH University may preside over the country’s most important meeting of representatives of all parties involved in the development of distributed energy. During this year’s edition of the Congress we have been focused on the search for innovative energy solutions for Poland, all in the context of locality which is an extremely significant, if not a key, aspect of transformative processes,” concluded AGH University Rector Jerzy Lis.
The AGH University Rector participated in a discussion panel on dispersed energy in Polish energy transformation in terms of the plans and actions of the government, which touched upon issues related to staff and education for energy.
During the Congress, the AGH University concluded an agreement with State Forests. The cooperation entails taking steps toward the development of dispersed energy, taking into account excluded areas, particularly in light of climate change.
