The best student “Innovations in Industry” from AGH University

AGH University student research clubs and their novel projects dominated the podium of the third edition of the competition for university students and student research clubs, Innovations in Industry EXPO KATOWICE.

MechaniCAD from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Robotics and their hydrogen car, Hydrive, came in first. The club’s supervisor is AGH University Associate Professor Wojciech Horak.

The second award went to FOCUS AGH, a student research club which designed a robot cooperating with a vision system. The club is based at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Automatics, Computer Science, and Biomedical Engineering with AGH University Associate Professor Adam Piłat as its supervisor.

The third place belonged to AGH Space Systems and Turbulence, a liquid-fuelled rocket. The club operates under the supervision of Dr Mariusz Gibiec from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Robotics.

The winners received financial prizes.

The jury, including people representing industry, universities, and scientific institutions, evaluated the innovativeness of the solutions, the applicability to industry, and the possible economic effects of implementing the projects.

The purpose of the competition is to promote talented university students in the field of industry (including robotics and automation, mining, geology, mechanics, electrical and electronics, IT, machine and equipment design), as well as to promote and contribute to the development of the Polish and global industrial economy, in line with global ecological trends.

The competition was co-organised by EXPO Katowice S.A. and DAMEL S.A. The results were announced during EXPO KATOWICE, held on 4-6 September 2024.
