16 more people to carry out implementation doctorates at the AGH University

Among the AGH University applications, the topics that prevail concern disciplines such as materials engineering and environmental engineering, mining and energy.

Implementation Doctorate is a programme by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education. It is a way to learn in a doctoral school, work professionally, and conduct research, all at the same time, which results in obtaining a PhD degree. It translates into the doctoral student preparing a thesis which is supposed to be of use for the entity they have been working for.

The entrepreneur participating in the programme has a chance to employ the best specialist in a given field, one that will devote a few years for performing research focused on solving a specific issue or improving the product. The end result is market advantage. Scientific entities shall obtain lump sum financing covering the costs of utilising research infrastructure. Thus, if a doctoral student uses, for example, lab equipment for the work performed for their company, the university shall receive additional funds for it from the Ministry of Science.

This year’s edition of the programme has seen 406 applications. A total of 157 of them was pre-qualified for funding. The PhD programmes will be carried out at 43 universities and institutes.

Thus far, 229 people have taken advantage of this opportunity in the AGH University Doctoral School.
