AGH University Press recognised in ACADEMIA 2024 competition

The AGH University Press was awarded a distinction of the Rector of the Warsaw University of Technology for the best academic publication in technical sciences in the ACADEMIA 2024 competition for the best academic and scientific book.

The said publication entitled “AGH na ratunek Smoczej Jamie. Udział Akademii Górniczo-Hutniczej w Krakowie w ratowaniu podziemnego zabytku. Monografia” is a popular science monography about the AGH University taking measures to save the Dragon’s den, a culturally significant site in Krakow. It discusses the results of research and studies of a 5-member team of scientists with different interests and experiences gained over many years of activity, closely associated with the Dragon’s den under the Wawel Royal Castle, one of the most famous caves in Poland, with the oldest underground path for tourists in Poland.

Authors of the monography are: Tadeusz Mikoś (scientific editor), Andrzej Szumiński, Antoni Tajduś, Jerzy Karczewski, and Beata Kwiatkowska-Kopka.
The book is available for purchase in Polish (link).

The aim of ACADEMIA is to recognise and promote the publishers of the best academic and scientific publications. In this year’s edition, 58 publishers submitted 167 titles. The competition takes into consideration first editions of reviewed scientific books, academic textbooks, monographs and publishing series, published in the same calendar year as well as the year preceding the competition, in the form of a printed book. The winners of the competitions were announced at the Warsaw International Book Fair.
