On January 17, 2022, in Warsaw, the AGH UST signed an agreement on cooperation with KGHM Polska Miedź S.A., which aims to intensify and reinforce the already prosperous collaboration.

The agreement was concluded by Professor Jerzy Lis, the AGH UST Rector, and Rafał Wiśniowski, Vice-Rector for Cooperation, as well as Jerzy Chludziński, President and CEO of KGHM.

It is worth mentioning that this is not the first joint initiative between the two entities. In 2013, the AGH – KGHM Laboratory of Critical Elements was opened. The unit was established thanks to the joint efforts of the AGH UST Faculty of Geology, Geophysics, and Environmental Protection and KGHM Polska Miedź S.A. The laboratory boasts, among other things, the JEOL SuperProbe 8230 electron microprobe, which is used to non-destructively determine the chemical composition of solid materials and inorganic synthetic substances.
