A solution complementary to measures leading to the elimination of the CO2 emissions or an increase in the natural absorption of the gas is carbon capture, followed by its transport and utilisation in the economy or its permanent geological storage. CCUS Technologies (Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage) constitute a valuable supplement to other low-emission solutions, allowing to reconcile the use of fossil fuels and the occurrence of unavoidable process emissions with the construction of climate-neutral economy. For this reason, it is crucial to elaborate a strategy for the development of CCUS technology in Poland matching the country’s specificity and to initiate state energy and industry CCUS technology clusters. It will contribute to a fair energy transformation and increase the industrialisation of Poland in line with the challenges in the Strategy for the Responsible Development.

The CCUS.pl project is implemented by a consortium headed by the AGH University, with substantive leadership of the implementing body i.e. the Ministry of Economic Development and Technology, and the socio-economic partner, WiseEuropa. The R+D manager of the project is Professor Wojciech Nowak, director of the AGH University Centre of Energy.
