Closer cooperation between AGH University and China

On 30 September 2024, the AGH University was visited by a delegation from the Embassy of the People's Republic of China, Foshan University, and the Chinese University of Hong Kong. The meeting was an opportunity for the universities to present their scientific and educational offers, and its main aim was the enhancement of cooperation, which was ultimately been reached by the conclusion of an agreement between the AGH University and Foshan University.

The Counsellor for Science and Technology at the Embassy, Jiayi Cheng, and the Second Secretary of the Embassy, Lin Li, visited the university on the part of the People's Republic of China.

In turn, Foshan University was represented by its President, Professor Shaoming Luo, as well as representatives of the Department of Planning, the Department of Materials and Energy Engineering, and the International Office.

Whereas the delegation of the Chinese University of Hong Kong included Professor Hoi Ying Wong, Associate Dean for Student Affairs in the Department of Statistics; Professor To Ngai, Assistant Dean for Research in the Department of Chemistry; Professor Otto Akseli Hannuksela (Department of Physics); Professor Michael Pittman (School of Life Sciences); Professor Oleksandr Savatieiev (Department of Chemistry); and Jorine Lam, Dr Angela Hung, and Annie Law from the Faculty of Science.

On behalf of the AGH University, the meeting was attended by the Vice-Rector for Cooperation, Professor Rafał Wiśniowski; the Coordinator for Cooperation with People's Republic of China, Professor Piotr Małkowski; the Director of the Centre for International Affairs, Paweł Świerk, and his Deputy, Aleksandra Perkins-Oleszkowicz, and representatives of the following Faculties: Energy and Fuels; Geology, Geophysics, and Environmental Protection; Materials Science and Ceramics; Physics and Applied Computer Science; Applied Mathematics.

More details concerning the cooperation were presented by Professor Piotr Małkowski along with representatives of particular AGH University faculties.
