The Polish Accreditation Committee (PKA) has awarded the Education Excellence Certificates. Two fields of study taught at the AGH University have been distinguished.
Automatic Control and Robotics (first-cycle and second-cycle degree programme at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Automatics, Computer Science, and Biomedical Engineering)
in the category: Otwarty na świat – doskonałość we współpracy międzynarodowej [ENG: Open to the world – excellence in international cooperation]
The certificate in this category is based on the application of good practices for the improvement of the internationalisation of education provided as part of the degree programme, and the conducted evaluation confirms the effective impact of international cooperation on the concept of education, implementation of the study program and staff development.
Interestingly, this field of study was the only one distinguished in the category.
As emphasised by the Dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Automatics, Computer Science, and Biomedical Engineering, AGH University Associate Professor Ryszard Sroka:
“It was with great joy that we received the Committee’s decision, that in line with the positive evaluation of Automatic Control and Robotics we have obtained the certificate of excellence. It is a great distinction and acknowledgement of our leading field of study in the strive for the Faculty’s education offer to be at the highest level. Owing to the efforts of the management of the Department of Automatic Control and Robotics, the programme’s curriculum underwent profound changes a few years ago, and now we are able to reap the fruits. This certificate only reinforces our conviction that the applied solutions and introduced modifications were right and will continue to contribute to the promotion of the programme which already is one of the most renown ones at the AGH University. I am convinced that this distinction will be an additional factor attracting the best candidates, not only for this field of study but also for the remaining ones at the Faculty, raising our position in Polish rankings.”
Computer Science in Engineering (first-cycle and second-cycle degree programme at the Faculty of Metals Engineering and Industrial Computer Science)
in the category: Zawsze dla studenta – doskonałość we wsparciu rozwoju studentów [ENG: Always for the student – excellence in supporting student development]
Obtaining this certificate is possible upon the implementation of good practices mostly in terms of supporting learning, social, academic or professional development of students and their entry on the labour market.
“The fact that we have obtained the Excellence Certificate in this category is not only a confirmation that we provide various forms of student support in the process of education but also an emphasis on how broad the possibilities for academic and social development are, undoubtedly making it easier for the graduates to enter the job market. At the Faculty of Metals Engineering and Industrial Computer Science, we attach great importance to engaging students in the improvement of the quality of education. The student survey results constitute a key element of the system and a basis for taking actions for the solution of any reported irregularities but also for rewarding the best-rated teachers,” claims the Dean of the Faculty of Metals Engineering and Industrial Computer Science, Professor Agnieszka Kopia.
