Perspektywy Ranking is in. AGH University in the lead

Once again, the AGH University is in the lead of Polish universities, taking fourth place in the main ranking and second in the ranking of technical universities in this year’s edition of the Perspektywy University Ranking, organised by the Perspektywy Education Foundation.

In the Ranking by Subject, five of our fields of study turned out to be the best. These are:

  • Electronics and Telecommunications (Faculty of Computer Science, Electronics, and Communications)
  • Technical physics (Faculty of Physics and Applied Computer Science),
  • Mining and geology (Faculties of: Civil Engineering and Resource Management; Drilling, Oil, and Gas; Geology, Geophysics, and Environmental Protection),
  • Biomedical engineering (Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Automatics, Computer Science, and Biomedical Engineering),
  • Mechatronics (Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Robotics).

Second place belonged to:

  • Geology (Faculty of Geology, Geophysics, and Environmental Protection),
  • Electrical Engineering (Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Automatics, Computer Science, and Biomedical Engineering),
  • Power engineering (Faculty of Energy and Fuels),
  • Geodesy and cartography (Faculty of Geo-Data Science, Geodesy, and Environmental Engineering),
  • Mechanical engineering (Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Robotics),
  • IT Studies (Faculty of Computer Science; Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Automatics, Computer Science, and Biomedical Engineering),
  • Material engineering (Faculty of Materials Science and Ceramics).

Meanwhile, Management and production engineering (Faculty of Management) ranked third on the list.

As emphasised by Professor Jerzy Lis, AGH University Rector:

This year’s high rank only proves how relentlessly we care for the quality of education and how engaged we are in the development of science and technology. We are particularly glad that five of our fields of study are now considered to be the best in Poland. It is a clear signal for high school graduates that what they may find here, in the AGH University offer, are fields of study allowing them to gain competencies of the engineer of the future.

The University Ranking takes into account 31 indicators grouped into 7 criteria: reputation, employability, research potential, research effectiveness, innovation, teaching, and internationalisation. Its methodology is developed by a committee chaired by Professor Michał Kleiber, former president of the Polish Academy of Sciences, chair of the Polish Committee for UNESCO.

This year’s Ranking by Subject includes 74 fields of study. Depending on the specificity of a given field of study, there are 12-13 indicators grouped into 6 criteria, namely reputation, employability, academic potential, teaching, research, internationalisation plus additional criteria.

Prepared for the 25th time, the Perspektywy University Ranking comprises four lists: Universities (all universities in the country eligible to grant the title of doctor, except for art schools), Private Universities (at least at the Master’s level), Public Vocational Colleges, and Ranking by Subject.
