Professor Jerzy Lis, the Rector of the AGH University, a specialist in materials engineering and chemical technology was awarded the title of “Diamentowy Inżynier 2023” [ENG: Diamond Engineer] in the 30th “Złoty Inżynier” [ENG: Gold Engineer] contest organised by the editorial team of Przegląd Techniczny, a monthly of the Polish Federation of Engineering Associations.
There were two more employees of the AGH University among the awardees, namely Professor Ryszard Tadeusiewicz, Rector of the AGH University in 1998–2005, automation specialist and computer scientist, populariser of science, honoured with a special award on the 30th anniversary of the contest, and Dr Anna Zielińska from the Faculty of Management, specialising in topics related to blockchain and electromobility, with an award for young engineers.
The list of winners was announced on 4 March, the World Engineering Day, this year under the slogan “Engineering Solutions for a more sustainable world.”
The titles and honours were given for achievements in the fields such as construction, innovation, infrastructure, science, management, energy engineering, medical technology, activism.
Among the winners and laureates of the contest, which has been organized for 30 years, are inventors, authors of innovative solutions and projects bringing revolutionary changes to world science and technology, scientists, as well as practitioners – managers, teachers and association activists.
