In each OPUS call, researchers can apply for funds for domestic projects, but also for projects carried out in cooperation with partners from foreign scientific institutions or with the use of large international research facilities by Polish research teams. This edition also includes the LAP path within the Weave programme. As a result, Polish researchers can receive funds for projects implemented in cooperation with partners from Austria, the Czech Republic, Slovenia, Germany, Switzerland, Luxembourg, or Belgium-Flanders, who simultaneously apply for funds for the implementation of these projects to the relevant funding institutions in a given country. In this configuration, LAP applications are evaluated by NCN expert teams, while foreign agencies accept the results of such evaluations and allocate funds to partner teams on their basis.
OPUS projects can be planned for 12, 24, 36, or 48 months, OPUS LAP projects for 24, 36 or 48 months, depending on the country of residence of the partner team. There is no limit to the amount of funding per one project. Grants can be used for salaries for the team manager and team members, stipends, purchase of apparatus, equipment, software, materials and services, as well as business trips, visits, and consultations.
