SONATA is a programme directed at researchers with a PhD degree conferred within 2 to 7 years before the proposal submission year (i.e., between 1.01.2017 and 31.12.2022). In specific cases, this period can be extended by documented sick leaves, childcare leave, etc. The principal investigator of the project must have at least one paper published or accepted for publication or at least one artistic achievement or achievement in research in art.

A SONATA project may be planned for 12, 24, or 36 months. Besides the principal investigator, the research team members may be additional contractors, including students, doctoral students, and post-docs. You can be a project investigator in a SONATA call only once.
