Professor Vicentiu D. Radulescu, working at the Faculty of Applied Mathematics, has been listed on the Highly Cited Researchers (HCR) 2021. Having one’s name put on this prestigious list is a token of appreciation of one’s rich academic achievement which is used by the entire world’s research community in the form of citations. The distinction of an AGH UST scientist simultaneously strengthens the position of our university in the Shanghai Ranking of World Universities.
The HCR is prepared annually by Clarivate Analytics and indicates researchers whose publications are among the 1% of the most frequently cited works in 21 fields of science.
Professor Vicentiu D. Radulescu, a mathematician of Romanian descent who has been associated with the AGH UST for 3 years, received this select distinction for the fourth time. However, this year, it has a special significance to our university because just a few days earlier, the scientist had received a nomination for the position of Associate Professor. Thus, the listing of Professor Radulescu among the most frequently cited researchers gives the AGH UST the certainty of promotion in the international Shanghai Ranking.
‘Professor V.D. Radulescu is a world-renowned specialist with a spectacular academic achievement. According to the MathSciNet base, he authored more than 400 publications which have been cited about 8,000 times by more than 2,200 authors. The number of works that he had published while working at the AGH UST is impressive. In the great majority, they constitute articles published in renowned, high-impact journals with an established position in the scientific world. This is a huge commendation and honour for us that Professor Radulescu represents the AGH UST on the international scene’, emphasises Professor Jerzy Lis, the AGH UST Rector.
Professor Radulescu carries out research at the Faculty of Applied Mathematics, in the Department of Mathematical Analysis, Computational Mathematics, and Probabilistic Methods into partial differential equations.
Professor Radulescu’s scientific and research path has led him through the following institutions: University of Craiova (Romania), University of Paris (the Sorbonne), Simion Stilow Institute of Mathematics of the Romanian Academy in Bucharest, the Institute of Mathematics, Physics, and Mechanics of the University of Ljubljana (Slovenia), King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, and University of Electronic Science and Technology in China.
The following list contains a small portion of Professor Radulescu’s works, which constitutes a glimpse of his remarkable achievements:
It should also be noted that Professor Radulescu serves as editor-in-chief of renowned journals, such as Advances in Nonlinear Analysis and Boundary Value Problems; and as editor of Journal of Mathematical Analysis and Applications, Mathematical Methods in the Applied Sciences, Asymptotic Analysis, or De Gruyter Series in Nonlinear Analysis and Applications. He also contributes significantly as editor to the Opuscula Mathematica journal issued at the AGH UST.
Next to Professor Radulescu, six other scientists from Poland found themselves in this select company of the HCR list, namely: Professor Piotr Ponikowski, Rector of Wroclaw Medical University, Professor Jacek Namieśnik from Gdańsk University of Technology, Professor Hazem M. Kalaji from Warsaw University of Life Sciences, Professor Piotr Rutkowski from Maria Sklodowska-Curie National Research Institute of Oncology, and Atanas G. Atanasov with the Polish Academy of Sciences affiliation.
