RODBUK – a repository of open research data of Krakow universities

The repository was created by: the Jagiellonian University, AGH University of Science and Technology, Cracow University of Technology, Cracow University of Economics, Pedagogical University of Krakow, and University of Physical Education in Krakow. The technical aspect of the project lied in the hands of the AGH University Academic Computer Centre CYFRONET.

RODBUK supports open science policy – an accessible platform for storing research data collections provides access to investigations carried out at Krakow scientific centres, facilitates the storage of multifarious types of research data, allows scientists to quickly access desired information through a user-friendly browsing interface, makes it possible to obtain a permanent DOI number for each data collection, and normalises citations across the deposited data.

The advantages of sharing one’s research data in RODBUK include:

• Increasing chances of being cited by other scholars
• Improving communication between specialists representing various scientific disciplines
• Providing opportunities to use existing resources and reducing the costs of own research.

The system provides support in the form of Data Stewards, who will offer their help in describing metadata for the deposited data collection. Moreover, RODBUK is free.
